It was brought to my attention from a viewer that hard covers on laptops are difficult to remove and they were absolutely right. I liked how my TopCase cover fit perfectly on my lap top, but getting it off was a whole different story... It would not pop off, no matter how much I carefully tried to remove it with my bare hands.

I looked up other blogs and YouTube videos on how to remove it (using a microfiber cloth, credit card, guitar pick) and none of them helped. After 30 minutes of struggling with the case I finally removed it but I came out with damaged fingernails and a broken tab on my hard case. It was not good.
There had to be a better way. Then I remembered I had this mini plastic wedge laying around the house. It actually came from a Brodit iPhone mounting kit for my car that I had purchased a long time ago. Thank goodness I kept this because it was the one thing that removed the case without any damage. It seems Brodit does offer these "gap openers" separately on their website, but their U.S. Proclip distributor does not. However, they do have a contact page where you might be able to ask them.
So for now, I suggest going to your local hardware store or auto parts store to see if they carry plastic wedges. They should be easy to find. I have also included links to plastic wedges that I found online. Any should work as long as they have a very slim edge. Because the plastic is super strong and durable, it should remove the case very easily.
I hope this helps! I've read disaster stories of people breaking their cases and damaging their laptop as they tried to remove it by cutting it and being too forceful with it. Using a plastic wedge is a safer, much easier way. Good luck! ;)
